Injury Risk Reduction

Back Injury Costs

  • 90% of Americans will experience lower back pain.
  • Nearly 100 million days of work are lost annually due to back pain.
  • Back pain is the most common and expensive work related injury.
  • Estimated direct cost of $20 to $50 billion and indirect cost of $80 to $200 billion is spent annually on workplace back injuries.
  • Back pain is the most common cause of disability for people under 45

Companies simply can't afford to not make an investment in the equipment to reduce lifting injuries on the job.

Back injuries result from exceeding the capability of the body, using bad body mechanics or the cumulative effect of these factors:

  • Reaching while lifting
  • Poor physical condition
  • Poorly designed job or work station
  • Repetitive lifting
  • Twisting while lifting
  • Bending while lifting
  • Maintaining bent postures
  • Heavy lifting
  • Fatigue
  • Poor footing
  • Lifting with forceful movement
All of these factors can be reduced with the use of using lifting devices and adjustable height workstations.

We work directly with risk management consultants, insurance companies, employers and risk management departments to design and build equipment for specific tasks that will lower a company's injury rate and overall costs of doing business.

We've worked with companies as large as Nike, Costco and Leatherman Tool and as small as local restaurants, small manufacturing shops and everything in between.  If you are interested in working with us to we would be happy to speak to you by email, phone, web meeting or even in person!

If your comapny is in need of a Risk Management Consultant, SRMC provides information on selecting a consultant and a directory of it's members that are risk management consultants.

Injured Worker Programs

Getting injured workers back to their jobs is important for the worker, their family and our economy.

We work directly with government run programs and risk management consultants to design and build egonomic office products as well as equipment and tools for reaching and lifting in industrial environments.

We've worked extensively with the State of Oregon to get workers back on the job after back injuries, limb amputation, carpal tunnel and more.

Each state offers various workman's compensation and back to work programs.  See a list of injured worker's programs in your state.  If you work with a state run program in another state, we would be thrilled to be able to offer our products and services to your clients as well. Feel free to contact us for more information or to discuss how we can serve you.
